Dead, please wake up!
Sometimes, somewhere, for some reasons, the dead are not dead. They are wet in the dungeons. They are undead in preliminary hearings. They are in courtroom ... even empty.
Last June 20, 2011; in courtroom of the military court in Douala, Cameroon, the court called the accused Maxime WONDJE. Silence. Would this be a trial in absentia, such as of the former Tunisian President Ben Ali? Not at all. The accused of armed robbery was arrested long ago. But the silence continues in the court. After a few seconds, the court inquires to the head escort. He admits to not knowing where the accused Maxime is. Had he escaped? Silence.
Suddenly, a prisoner stands out and announces that the accused has died after being presented, sick, at his last meeting. Did he pass away recently so that his death information could not be entered in the Registry? No. In fact, he died ... a year ago!
In some places in this world, you can be sentenced to death or die before being sentenced!
